Shipwrecked (The Same Predicament)

from Dreamsongs by Sam Brightbart

/

lyrics

Here I am on this island again
The ship teased the shoreline and turned round again
I'm so tired of swimming, I never reach anywhere

Saltwater worsens my thirst
The promise of tasting a bubbles that bursts
In the clear grey skies of anywhere

Searching inside for reassurance
Voices empty as night
Running out of the will to endure this
Alone

Here I am in this tunnel again
With no light to guide me, no sign of a friend
And every step feels like the last as it echoes right through

Heart weighing down as I call
For some sure arms to stop my exhaustion and fall
To a place that is warm and where peace lives and echoes right through

Searching inside for reassurance
Voices empty as night
Running out of the will to endure this
Alone

And all these words are just flowers at my tombstone
And all these thoughts are just weak
And every memory grey as I walk past
Another blank face in the street
And this game doesn't need another player
And this picture could use some more pink
Want to grab myself the Mona Lisa and say:
This is done, now I don't need to think anymore.
