about

A very equally co-written and co-performed song, and our first full collaboration.

The title "Patchwork" refers to the technique used to write the verse lyrics, which involved writing one word at a time, but not in order, gradually building up a block of lyrics and filling in the gaps.

lyrics

Two wizened hopers fumbling for brushwood
To cremate sedated memories slowly glowing
Their blissful matchbox love too worn to seal fools' years
Without her knowing

Their fingers sink through layers thickened only
In isolation long-contented, old
Rejuvenating fevers tessellating
Fissures re-told

Show your diamonds and kings
This game has gone on too long
Let love be
She deserves the final song

Trace evening's profile through the falling feathers
As memory's footsteps ripple over leaves
The congregation kindling's ancient sparkle
Her mind retrieves

Underground, secrets grow
'Til long carved channels are exposed
Years to make
Single seconds to break

Show your diamonds and kings
This game has gone on too long
Let love be
She deserves the final song
